About the Winery
The eighth oldest winery in the world, Kalthäuserhof is situated overlooking the majestic Revel valley and looks like something out of a fairy tale. 1335, Elector Balduin of Luxembourg founded a monastery for the monks of the Carthusian Order. The winery was founded in 1335 by Luxembourg's Elector Balduin for his Carthusian monks, and has been passed down through seven generations of the Carthoiserhof family. The leading gourmet magazine Gault & Millau has awarded the 2019 Rising Star Award to Kaltwieserhof, whose VDP-rated Rieslings have won the hearts of the judges and earned this historic prize. He said that he was once again convinced of the greatness of the region's wonderful terroir and the tradition of Riesling, and was determined to pursue quality further.
